What is the difference between Cyanocobalamin and Methylcobalamin?
Methylcobalamin is a type of Vitamin B-12 that
is already in the activated form (ready to be used by the body).
Vitamin B-12 comes in several kinds including methyl-, cyano-, and
adenosyl-, but only the methyl form is used in the central nervous
system. Cyanocobalamin (the common type found in most
vitamin supplements) is converted by the liver into methylcobalamin –
the methylcobalamin B-12 does not need to be converted by the liver. A
small percentage of people have a problem with their liver’s ability to
convert B-12 from the cyano form to the methyl form – for these people
the methylcobalamin form is essential.
Does the B-12 fall under Vegetarian or Vegan?
The B-12's are a type of vegetarian but not vegan. The reason
it is not vegan, is because it contains lactose, which is derived from
milk.
Why is Superior Source's B-12 colored red and other companies sublingual B-12’s are not?
Red is the natural color of Vitamin B-12. Because Superior
Source's micro tabs are so small, the tablet takes on the red color of
B-12. Other manufacturers of B-12 lozenges are so much larger than
Superior Source's, the fillers and binders in these products dilute the
natural red color. In addition, some of these lozenges have a thin
coating which covers the color of the tablet.
